In my last article, “The Secret to Beautiful Hair,” I discussed some of the things you could do to make your hair look great. I mainly discussed exercise and lifestyle. Here I will be talking about healthy hair habits and diet. Diet is extremely important. You are what you eat, as the old saying goes.

So here are a few more of my "secrets" for beautiful hair:

Healthy food

Brazil nuts: rich in selenium, necessary for strong and flexible hair.

Nuts:alpha-linolenic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid - Sprinkle these on your salads for a delicious texture and taste.

Don't overdo nuts (or anything else for that matter). They're high in calories, so don't make them a snack.

Remember, the idea is to maintain balance. You should only eat around 1,500 calories per day when you have reached your ideal weight. You might need more or less, depending on your size and lifestyle, but you'll be surprised at how little food you need and still be very healthy.

Dark Green Vegetables: Leafy greens like spinach, collard greens, chard, and the like all contain high amounts of iron and other essential minerals that are great for healthy hair. You can also include broccoli in this group. They are all rich in vitamins A and C. Your body uses them to produce sebum, your natural hair conditioner.

And don't forget the carrots. They are an excellent source of vitamin A, which gives the hair great flexibility and strength. It also adds that extra shine that makes your hair shine.
